What is this, and why is it special?

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

Many of you did not find anything suspicious here, but hats off to those of you who did!!

Look carefully at line 14, and you see that it is written ‘Thou fhalt commit adultery.’ No, it’s not the spelling of ‘fhalt’, its the missing ‘not’. This Bible is actually asking us to commit adultery! Surely, Tiger Woods would have found this very appropriate!

This is a copy of a 1631 reprint of the King James Bible, which came to be known as the ‘Black Bible’ because of this single typo! As posted by Srikanth, here are some more mistake-riddled Bibles!

  1. Hello...
As we can see that in the line 14 instead of the actual seventh commandement which is 'Thou shalt not commit adultery' it is printed 'Thou shalt commit adultery'.This isa major mistake and this copy of the Bible was printed in 1631 and is generally referred to as 'The Wicked Bible'

  2. It is the "Ten Commandments" as written in Exodus 20:2-20:17 of "The Bible". This is known as the "Ethical Decalogue" which is different from the "Ritual Decalogue"- identified in the book Exodus 34:10-34:26, in Biblical Criticism.
This picture is the English transliteration of the original Hebrew script which was first translated into Greek and then to English. This is the original Ten Commandments as described in Exodus 20:2-20:17 and Deuteronomy 5:6-5:21. Both Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 contain 14 or 15 imperative statements, but the Bible assigns the count of 10 to both the lists in contrast to Exodus 34 which has 10 imperative statements.

  6. "Wicked Bible", "Adulterous Bible" or "Sinner's Bible" 1631: Barker and Lucas: Omits an important "not" from Exodus 20:14, making the seventh commandment read "Thou shalt commit adultery." The printers were fined £300 and most of the copies were recalled immediately. Only 11 copies are known to exist today ---- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_errata

  7. I really can't put my finger on it. But here is the context.

This is form the Exodus - the second book of the Hebrew Bible.
The above are excerpts of the laws that Yahweh, through Moses, gives the Hebrews and enters into a covenant with them, by which He will give them the land of Canaan in return for their faithfulness.

Can not find any thing peculiar abt it though.
