Another connect.

BRO 117

3. A.

john abraham

Adoor Gopalakrishnan

saeed akhtar mirza

hrithik roshan

As usual, I have kept the names of the pictures for easier identification. It is the connect that matters here.

Happy connecting, and have a nice life, folks!

Cracked by several, and by Partha on second attempt.

The answer is Ritwik Ghatak, the master filmmaker who never got appreciated in India during his lifetime, despite efforts from several corners, including Satyajit Ray!

1. This is a reference to the car in his film Ajantrik, a classic in every sense of the word. In the film, the car itself plays a role in the script, which predates all those Herbie films by a long shot! The number on the car is BRO 117.

2. Ghatak wrote the screenplay for Madhumati, which became a commercial success and spawned umpteen movies on the reincarnation genre! Lore has it that Ghatak was almost broke when his brother-in-law Bimal Roy took him in and let him stay. He even gave him some good quality alcohol as a present! The ‘favour’ got Ghatak thinking how he could repay it, and he ended up writing the script for Madhumai within two to three hours!

3. A, B & C. Adoor Gopalkrishnan, John Abraham and Saeed Akhtar Mirza were all students of Ghatak during his stint at FTII.

4. Hrithik Roshan’s grandmother was a Bengali, and had apparently named him after the great director, of whom she was a great fan.

  1. Connect - Directors of Indian parallel cinema (art film).
    1. Sketch by SATYAJIT RAY
    2. Madhumati by BIMAL ROY
    3. JOHN ABRAHAM - Malayalam parallel cinema director.
    4. ADOOR GOPALAKRISHNAN - Malayalam parallel cinema director.
    5. SAEED AKHTAR MIRZA - Hindi parallel cinema director.
6.RITWIK (rhyming with HRITHIK) GHATAK - Bengali parallel cinema director.

  2. Thanks to your telling me that the file name of the 1st picture is important, I could probably find the desired connect - Ritwick Ghatak.
    1. Poster of "Ajantrik" - a film by Ghatak.
    2. Still from "Madhumati" - screenplay by Ghatak.
3a, 3b and 3c - Photographs of John Abraham, Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Saeed Akhtar Mirza - Ghatak's students at Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
    4. Hrithik Roshan - his name rhymes with Ritwick Ghatak and may be his name is inspired by Ghatak's name.
I could think of this connect only.

  3. Connect is Ritwik Ghatak

    Madhumati - His commercial hit
John Abraham (malayali director), Adoor Gopalkrishnan, Saeed Akhtar Mirza - His student at FTII
    Hrithik Roshan - same-name
...I cud connect Bro 117 drawing.

  4. The answer is Ritwik Ghatak
Adoor and John abraham (Two Legendary Malayalam Film makers) and Saed Mirza were students of Ritwik Ghatak.
Madhumati was the story of Ritwik Ghatak.
BRO 117 was the number of the vehicle from the movie Ajantrik, it was the first movie where a Vehicle played a serious part in the script.
This film sends a very serious message too...( I am Proud of India's regional films)
Hrithik Roshan was Supposed to be named as Ritwik, until a Jyotish Suggested Otherwise...(not too sure abt this one).
