After quite some time, I am posting one of the more ‘intelligent’ connects. It is easier than it appears at first.

PS: The lady in the first photograph is only a recent addition to the list.

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

Three answers, and two correct. But the question has not been fully cracked.

Yes, all four people shown here have spawned cricketing terms from their name!

A is Michelle Pfeiffer, the actress. A recent addition to cricketing terms is Michelle, used to denote a five-wicket haul by a bowler. Apparently, the surname ‘Pfeiffer’ sounds too much like ‘five for’, as in ‘five for 32’ or ‘five for 12’.

B is Ellis Achong, a part Chinese cricketer. He pioneered a certain style of bowling, that came to be known as ‘Chinaman’ bowling after him.

C is Lord Nelson, who lost an eye, an arm and a leg in the Battle of Trafalgar, and subsequently died from the injuries. The score of 111 is named Nelson’s score in his memory and honour.

D is Vinoo Mankad. We all know the style of ‘Mankad’-ing a batsman, or running him out when he is out of the crease at the non-striker’s end before a delivery is bowled.

  1. Srikanth Mallajyosula says "Cricket terms: Michelle, Nelson, Mankad....dont know the second pic though...but the connect is people who are cricket terms"

  2. Dunno about the first pic (Michelle Pfeiffer). The other three lend their names to cricketing terms. Chinaman, Nelson and Mankaded respectively.
