During his acceptance speech for the Best Actor Oscar in Philadelphia, Tom Hanks actually mentioned the names of his drama teacher and one of his classmates, saying that he drew inspiration from them for being gay for the role. However, these two people were still ‘in the closet’ at that time, and Hanks, in effect, actually ‘out’-ed them to the whole world!
