Which Indian work of popular performing art, originating in India is ‘banned’ in Pakistan because it alludes that people in love will have the heaven at their feet?
And by ‘banned’, I mean that, for some reason that has not been officially stated or acknowledged yet, it does not find a place in most of the major broadcast media in Pakistan.
PS: Here’s a connect that leads to the same work.
A. Nilgiri Mountain Railways.
B. Clive Owen, Denzel Washington and Willem Dafoe.
C. Panjabi MC.
Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

An easy one here too! It’s the song Chhaiyya Chhaiyya from Dil Se. Only Srikanth seemed somewhat flummoxed by this.
PS: It isn’t exactly banned. For some reason, it’s just not played!
Meanwhile, the connect is this: The song was shot atop NMR, the three actors came together in Spike Lee’s Inside Man, which had the song playing when the opening and ending credits rolled, and Panjabi MC has made his own mix of it.
its chal chhaiya chhaiya song directed by A.R.Rehman from dil se...which is also remixed by Punjabi MC..as Chaiyya Chaiyya Bollywood Joint used as opening song for the movie Inside Man(Clive Owen, Denzel Washington ) it was filmed on top of the Ooty train (the Nilgiri Mountain Railway) ...
ReplyDeleteThe song Chaiyya Chaiyya from the movie Dil Se..It had the lyrics 'paon ke niche janat hogi' that is why it was banned

its a myth that its 'banned' in pakistan but it is not. similar stanzas occur in many sufi songs...btw the song u r referring to is "chhaiyaa chhaiyya" from 'dil se'...stanza being 'paaon k neeche jannat hogi'
ReplyDeletethe movie Inside Man also starts with the same song
hey it is chaiya chaiya.... nice disguise but why the HINT B inside man was a give away, the moment u gave inside man, got it, BTW we at QFRAT did a question on chaiya chaiya ourselves...

ReplyDeletethe line is, "jiske sar ho ishq ki chhav to paao k neeche jannat hogi"...
well your question was "Which Indian work of popular performing art.....", so even though I had found the connect as Chaiyya chaiyya, the word art confused me into answering the question as the art form "bhangra"
