This one needs quite a bit of lateral thinking. Therefore, to make matters easier, I have retained the filenames of these photographs, so that they point you in the correct direction. All you need to do is connect these photographs.
A.
B. This is connected to the ‘isolation’.
C. This may be the field of application.
And now I think that I have made this too easy! No matter. Get cracking!
Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

Three answers, and yes, the connect is indeed graphene, the thin matrix of carbon atoms isolated from graphite that got two people the Physics Nobel this year! The first pic is that of graphite pencils, and the two-dimensional layer is quite visible. The second is scotch tape, which was used to isolate graphene layers from graphite for the first time. And graphene can apparently lead to faster and smaller transistors, revolutionising the computer industry.
Graphene.
