The longest place-name found in any English-speaking country is:
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateapokaiwhenuakitanatahu - Māori name for a hill in New Zealand. (85 letters)
Translates roughly as "The summit where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, the climber of mountains, the land-swallower who travelled about, played his nose flute to his loved one."
(Both are good words to make visual by placing pics of Lungs-ultramicroscope-silicon-volcano) and the Taumata hill.

What does PNEUMONOULTRAMICROSCOPICSILICOVOLCANOCONIOSIS mean? As far as I can decipher it should mean a condition affecting the lungs which result from inhalation of ultramicroscopic silicon dusts arising in the volcanic dusts. Reminds me of Eyjafjallajokull.
ReplyDeleteThe largest name of any human structure is "Arteia Commitans Nervi Ischia Disci". It is a small artery which runs in the upper thigh but has the largest name.
