A lallu for the day.

Which fashion accessory (of today) was made famous by high-ranking armed forces officials and people in actual combat, who wore the during World War II?

I want a very specific answer to this one.

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

***************

Five answers, and only two got it correct. I was looking for Aviator Goggles from Ray Ban!

Ten answers, and eight of them are right to the point! Two say Rishi Kapoor, but I would rather prefer to give points to those who have said Karz, the film directed by Subhash Ghai. And that's because all these films have titles that correspond to songs featured in Karz.

Here’s an interesting one.

what happens

A few things are obvious. The reason given for the change shown above was conformity with the latest fashion trends. However, if one adheres to the ‘playscale’, these changes were absolutely necessary. What are we talking about?

PS: Yesterday, it was 1.4 degrees Celsius here!

*************

Nine responses, and I’d give it to all of them. This is indeed Barbie’s waist widening. Given her height and dimensions, it was considered that not only was she grossly underweight, but also setting a bad example for kids who played with them! Hence, this move…

Will try to make it easier this time.

We all know that Dumbledore, from the Harry Potter series of books, is gay. At least JKR has admitted to it. My question is, which person, from the cast of the Harry Potter films, is openly homosexual? Given the ‘relationship’ of his character with Dumbledore in the stories, it would make for a beautiful conspiracy theory!

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

PS: Just survived 2.6 degrees yesterday!

**************

Sorry, folks! Three entries and no correct answer! I was asking for the real-life person, not the character! It’s Alan Rickman, who plays Severus Snape, who is a declared homosexual!

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

PS: It was 2.1 degrees here yesterday! If, for some reason, I can’t post my quizzes anymore, I think you can guess what has happened to me!

Looks like this one was a toughie too! Two answers, and only Partho da got it correct! It’s obviously Govinda, the actor, and here’s why:

1. His nickname Chi Chi means little finger in Punjabi.
2. Dancing became his obsession after viewing Saturday Night Fever, the virtue which he exploited early in his film career.
3. The name of Govinda's daughter is Narmada Ahuja. (That is the logo of Narmada Bachao Andolan. Related to the river, not the daughter. ;) )
4. He is a member of Indian National Congress and he won the Lok Sabha elections on Congress's ticket.
5. After he quit active politics the election to his Lok Sabha constituency of North Mumbai was won by Sanjay Nirupam (Congress).

I’ll try to make it a little easier here.

which

This is the logo of which organisation, and why is this logo in news recently? (Sorry for the low resolution.)

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

PS: the temperature in Jaipur has dropped to 3.8 degrees!

Five answers, and all correct. This is the logo of the Telluride Foundation in Colorado, USA, which claims that the logo of the 2016 Rio Olympics has been plagiarised from theirs!

This one’s not all that easy.

what

Identify the label, and what connects it to Jaipur, the city where I lie now.

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

BTW, can anyone give me some cheap survival tips? It’s 4 degrees Celsius here now!

********************

Looks like this one was a toughie. Hence, no attempts! The label here is Water Lily Acoustics, and in 1993 they released the album A Meeting by the River, featuring music by Ry Cooder and Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. And obviously, Bhattsaab lives in Jaipur. Incidentally, this was the album that got them the Grammy Award.

This is less of a quiz question and more of a mathematical question.

X is a prime number, as is X+2,000. Interestingly, X+2,000 is also the sum of X consecutive prime numbers.

What is X? (shouldn't be all that difficult for you.

Happy quizzing, and have a nice life, folks!

*********************

X=11, and that makes all three answerers correct! That’s right, folks! 2011 is a prime number, and is also the sum of 11 consecutive prime numbers, beginning from 157!

A slightly difficult one for the day.
tree
What is the claim to fame of this tree? And by what name is it referred to now? Interesting info: it’s exact location is not disclosed to ward off any vandals that might want to deface it.
Happy quizzing, and have a nice life folks. And Happy New Year, too!

********************

Six answers, and all correct! This is indeed the Methuselah tree, the oldest tree in the world! Carbon dated to be more than 4,800 years old, it's named after Methuselah, the oldest person mentioned in the (Hebrew) Bible, who lived to be 969 years old!
