Six answers, and four point in the correct direction: Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The first photo is that of the Bengali novel Na Hanyate, which is said to have inspired Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. The second is Fyodr Dostoevsky, whose White Nights Bhansali made into Saawariya. And of course, Bhansali also remade Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Devdas.

  1. sanjay leela bhansali..his films 'hum dil de chuke sanam'. 'khamoshi' and 'devdas' were inspired by these works or artists respectively..

  2. Sanjay Lila Bansali.
    HDDCS was inspired by "Na Hanyate". Sawariya was inspired from "White Nights" by Dstoyevsky (pic 2) and Devdas was originally written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay (pic 3).
