Eight replies, and all of them almost invariably correct, barring a few glitches here and there. And one answer that said Jane Austen. The answer I was looking for is Kandukondain Kandukondain, the film. It was based on Sense and Sensibility, Shankar Mahadevan won his first National Award for it, and it featured a song or a small piece, sung by Hariharan, which was originally written by Subramanya Bharathi, aka Bharathiyar.
