Yes, the two answers are correct. The first blank is a group called Anonymous: hackers who first gained notoriety thanks to the Koobface virus that spread through Facebook. What’s shown above is a fallout of the security group HBGary investigating the team and preparing to hand over the info to FBI.

The developers of an immensely famous multimedia software attributed a very unusual development with their product to four reasons.

1. X 5 combines the best aspects of X 2 and X 3 into one player. Hence X 2 + X 3 =
   X 5!
2. [Y]
3. We think that a Fibonacci sequence for versioning might be pretty damn cool.
4. We improved so much in X 5 that we figured it warranted Z.

X is the name of the software. The third reason, Y, contains a somewhat NSFW pun, and Z is the unusual development. Give me all three.

Ok folks, I am back.

Shifted to Delhi about three months ago, and have been working for The Financial World, a relatively new newspaper from the Tehelka stable.

Managed to start a business quiz column here, so will upload those questions here too. Answer all of them correctly via SMS, and you could win a good book!

Meanwhile, here’s today’s question of the day.

This is a very specific kind of yeti crab. It got it nickname from a certain feature it has in common with the star of an erstwhile famous television show in the USA. What is the nickname?

Just one answer? Expected better, folks! ‘Rage’ is correct. This is indeed The Hoff, named after the very hairy David Hasselhoff, of Baywatch and Knight Rider fame.

This one’s going to be quite a bit convoluted.

The song A was supposed to have been composed for film B, starring X in the lead. Instead, gained fame when picturised on Y in the film C.

Years later, Y’s son Z starred in a film D, whose name and theme song were inspired by a famous song from one of X’s most famous films.

Strangely enough, Z is seen humming (more like ‘reciting’) the song A as he interrogates ‘suspects’ by injecting what is initially shown as a deadly cocktail of drugs into them.

Identify all – A, B, C, D, X, Y and Z.

Hint: C’s remake, which also had its interpretation of A, is spawning a sequel.

X’s mother, a veterinarian like X’s father, paid a record house to write a song, get X to sing it, record a video and publish it. She paid them $4,000 for a vanity release on Facebook and Youtube. Initially, it received only about a 1,000 hits, but went viral later, remaining a trending topic on Twitter for several days all across the world.

Unfortunately, despite the large number of views, the reviews of the song were mostly negative, and it was panned badly by critics.

The upshot of it all was that X began to be bullied in school, and had to drop out, preferring to be home-schooled. However, X later said that the move to drop out was so that X could focus more on career prospects.
